    The site of the British Government Code and Cypher School during the Second World War, where Turing directed the design of the "Bombe" machine, which greatly shortened the time needed to break the German Enigma cipher, and which is also the intellectual backdrop against which he proposed in 1950 the far-reaching thought experiment of the "Turing test."
