Who they are

The sky, born of Gaia alone, who then became her consort and the first king of the gods. He loathed his own hideous children, stuffing the Cyclopes and Hundred-Handers back into the depths of the earth, until his son Cronus castrated and deposed him with a sickle. The planet Uranus is named for him.

A Dynasty Toppled by a Sickle

Cronus lay in ambush with a flint sickle and, as the sky embraced the earth, cut down his father. From the blood that fell to earth sprang the Furies and the Giants; from the part that fell into the sea rose Aphrodite. The dying Uranus left a curse: you too will be overthrown by your own children.
