Who they are

An architect of Athens who, with Ictinus, built the Parthenon, and independently designed the exquisite Temple of Athena Nike (Victory) on the Acropolis. He lived in the age of Pericles, the golden era when the Athenians rebuilt their sacred hill into an open-air museum of classical architecture. With Ictinus, the sculptor Phidias, and others, he froze Athens’ political glory, religious faith, and aesthetic ideal into a group of marble buildings immortal for two thousand years.
