The Bedside Plan: Jiangdong’s Version of the Longzhong Plan
On first meeting Sun Quan, Lu Su dismissed the attendants and offered his strategy: "the Han house cannot be revived, Cao Cao cannot be removed at a stroke; your best course is to stand as a third power in Jiangdong and watch for the realm’s dissensions... and then declare yourself emperor and seek the realm." This "bedside plan" came seven years before Zhuge Liang’s Longzhong Plan and foresaw the three-way division just as precisely — Lu Su’s most underrated achievement as a strategist.
