The Truce of Making Her Laugh

One of the terms of the truce was that the gods make Skaði laugh — and she, grief-stricken for her father, was set on not laughing. Loki tied one end of a rope to a goat’s beard and the other to himself, and tugged back and forth with the goat in such an absurd struggle that Skaði at last laughed through her tears. This vengeance ending in farce made her one of the gods.
